Band in focus: Kheaa

Kheaa খেয়া is an alt/art rock band from Chattogram. Their influences stem from many different horizons, from David Bowie’s space rock sound to 90s grunge with a little hint of shoegaze and a whole lot of The Strokes sprinkled in as well. Their latest release is their debut album “Lokkho Nokkhotrer Bishphoron লক্ষ নক্ষত্রের বিস্ফোরণ” that’s a moody introspective alternative rock record. The mood is set through their lyrics based around teenage nostalgia, loss, alienation and angst with sound that can range from borderline shoegaze wailing guitars and funky licks to very closed off unfiltered performances.

The band consists of Fardin Chowdhury on vocals and guitar, Zilan Noor on vocals and bass, Kaify Khan on drums, and Aryan Zihan on vocals and guitar.

The album also features some of their closest friends, who contributed vocals and musical input on several tracks. These include Mysoon (featured on “Nishipoddo”), Nujhat Shaity (featured on “Neel”), and Sharika Hasan (featured on “Kalo Megher Kanna”) on vocals. Additionally, Junaid Chowdhury (featured on “Neel”) and Tashrif Mahmud Aivan (featured on “Shur”) contributed guitar parts.

The album is now available for streaming on all major platforms.
